The founder of Hop & Hound Dog Wash with a dog at the wash station

Alex at the station — the idea born from one too many muddy car journeys.

Hop & Hound started with a simple frustration: every good walk ended with a muddy car. We built the wash station we wished existed — practical, professional and right on the trail.

01 — The story

From muddy boots to a clean idea

A simple solution to a very common problem.

The idea came after one too many walks through Blean Woods ended with a car full of mud and a dog who needed a bath. We looked for a self-service dog wash near the trails — there wasn't one. So we built it. Hop & Hound opened in 2023 with four raised tubs, two rinse booths and a firm belief that washing your dog shouldn't be a chore.

The turning point

A wet October walk through Blean Woods, a boot full of mud, and a back seat that would never be the same.

Muddy dog paws on a trail through the woods
Every good walk ends with muddy paws — that's where we come in.

The problem

No self-service dog wash near the Canterbury trails. Every walk meant a choice between a dirty car or skipping the good route.

The idea

A wash station that fits into the walk itself — warm tubs, natural shampoos, and towels waiting for you at the end of the trail.

The result

Four raised tubs, two rinse booths, and a growing community of dogs who actually enjoy bath time.
